A short walk from Nest Haven B&B - about a 5 to 10 minutes - one will discover  CHURCH ROAD WINERY

Founded in 1897 Church Road is committed to crafting premium, complex wines from the finest Hawke's Bays grapes 

  • WINERY TOUR - see this magnificent winery and be guided through the wonderful disused underground wine vats whose adjoining walls have been opened up, creating the basis for New Zealand's only Wine Museum. .

  • Wine tasting included as part of the Tour. Tour takes approx 1 hour and costs just $12.00 per person - "Highly recommended".

  • The oldest winemaking relics in the country lie entombed here, some dating back to the 3000-year-old Iron Age.

  • The Cellar Door - open most days 9.00am to 5.00pm

  • Here you can enjoy a local platter or cheese board and relax inside or in the yard under the tress. 9.00am to 4.00pm most days.

  • During early February each year,  Church Road features a Jazz or Pop concert in the park.Details on Church Road web site

 

"MISSION ESTATE"     WINERY  

A short walk from Nest Haven B&B (passed Church Road Winery) a further 10 minutes one will discover The Mission Estate Winery. Established in 1851 by the French Marist religious order, Mission Estate Winery is New Zealand’s oldest winemaker.

  • Winery "History" Tours followed by wine tasting - 10.30am and 2.00pm daily 

  • Wine tasting - taste an extensive range of award winning wines.  

  • Mission Restaurant - indoor and outdoor dining. Excellent service, quality seasonal produce and award-winning wines combine to create a memorable experience

  • Mission Concert - A natural amphitheatre, which is unrivalled anywhere in the country, leaves even the most travelled and world wise artist gasping accolades. This is a once a year, not to be missed event in February.

maraenui golf course

A short 5 or 6 minute drive takes you to the wonderful Maraenui Golf Course.  This course is located near a beach and amongst farm land and features 9 and 18 holes (tree lined) over near flat terrain with sand bunkers. NZPGA instructors, Trial Golf sets, Practice green and fairway, Driving nets, Comprehensive golf shop, Changing facilities and showers.

A short 5 or 6 minute drive takes you to the very affordable Awatoto Public Golf Course. This course is suitable for non-golfers, family, and social groups, company outings. Only $8.00 for 9 holes or $5.00 for an extra 9 holes, trundler $2.00, clubs just $5.00. Open 7 days a week, from dawn to dusk. Hire your gear or bring your own. Enjoy a snack and a drink in the modern clubrooms. Everybody welcome, no booking required.  (please note, prices subject to change)

Also close by about a 10 minute drive, you will find GOLFLANDS. Open 7 days a week Dawn to dusk GOLFLANDS FEATURES A 9 HOLE GOLF COURSE. Interesting and challenging Par 33. 1 round approx 1.5 hours, DRIVING RANGE, Club sets for hire, left and right hand. Balls, tees etc all available, MINI PUTT GOLF COURSE - 10 holes for the less serious golfers, TENNIS COURT -all weather, extras include.
